Sweet Sophie is finally a one year old!  I met her family (Mie Mie + Brad), along with her cousin Olivia and her mom Sue and dad Diego a few weeks ago, and we had a little adventure!  Here are some of my favorite frames from our morning out on the town.

Randy. Tomi. Chandler. Sterling Mae. Maverick.

If those aren't Texas names, I don't know what Texas names are.  I've known Tomi for a few years now, and honestly, I can't even really remember how we met.  That doesn't really matter, because I feel like I've known her my whole life.  Tomi's one of those girls you just trust.  You can tell her secrets and she'll keep 'em.  You can lean on her when ya need a good cry.  She's one heck of a cheerleader, and a snazzy dresser to boot.  On top of that (much like a maraschino cherry), she's one of the most loving moms around...and YOU KNOW I don't just hand that award out to any ol' hussy.

You can find her displaying her mad mom skillz as she supports Chandler as he mascots his way all over the Metroplex for his high school.  Tomi is busy teaching gorgeous little Sterling Mae how to keep the good kind of sass and lose the bad.  And as if that isn't enough, she is downright obsessed with everything about 1 year old Maverick...but, especially his little duck fluff patch of hair at the nape of his neck.  Really...who WOULDN'T be obsessed with it?  Mav is adorable, plain and simple, and Tomi gets her workouts by chasing his little adorable hiney all over town.

There really needs to be a sitcom about this family.  I could go on and on and on describing their connections and hilarious interactions, but I'll let the images speak from here on out...I love the Cheeks family!

WOWWWW!!!  It's Newborn City up off in here, isn't it?!  (Better than New Jack City, right?)  Maybe I should start a playgroup for precious Caroline, Alexa, and Benny!

I'm so excited to show you these images.  Little Benjamin, aka "Benny", is the newborn son of Bethany and Matt...two of my brother's best friends.  We all come from the same hometown (Brenham, represent!), but now all live in the Dallas area.  Though they are several years younger, I vividly remember these two kids growing up.  Bethany was always very cool and stylish, without even trying.  She was that girl who could fall out of bed and look like a supermodel.  Plus, everyone knew she was smart.  I thought she was purdy awesome.  For realz.  Sweet, forever cheerful Matt went to our church, and was likely at least partly responsible for my love of classic rock.  Seriously.  I didn't even know if Led Zeppelin was a type of pencil or the name of a video game before I met his brother and him.  And now...these two have their own baby.

In all honesty, I was a bit skeptical of how they would be as parents.  I suppose I was still envisioning them as 15 year olds, and when I arrived at their fabulously decorated home, I had a hard time believing that it belonged to them.  Then, I noticed how well they were doing with Benny, and how freaking organized everything was.  These kids have TOTALLY grown up.  And now, I feel old.  Sad face.  But HAPPY FACE, because I am just in love with this session, complete with Ramona, one of the coolest dogs in the world.  Have a little look-see.

Don't you dare forget to leave these peeps a comment!  I'm feelin' feisty and I might hunt ya down.  Show some love, already!

Bethany says:

Thank you so much Kate! We couldn't have imagined these turning out any better, and we will cherish them forever! I am so thankful that you captured this stage of Benny's life so perfectly; he changes every day and is already so different...

This baby is too perfect! Like the "life-like" porcelain dolls I always wanted to order out of my grandma's Family Circle magazines. Can't believe they got a real one of their very own!

The gorgeous baby sister of the famed "Sadie, Sadie, Little Lady" is here!  Baby Alexa is as tiny as can be...a little peanut, in fact!  Kristin and Jeff are so blessed to have these pretty little girls in their lives, and I am so fortunate to have such kind and soulful clients in them!  It is an indescribable honor to have been able to photograph Sadie for the past few years as she has grown and changed and can now retort back to my calling her the aforementioned nickname with "Katie, Katie, Little Lady"!  When I met her, she couldn't yet talk, but still had that magical twinkle in her eye and I knew we'd be homegirls for life.  And NOW, she is a big sister to sweet Alexa!  I'm so excited to continue to watch these little lovelies go through life together and to get to document their familial connections.

I'm so proud of these images, and must give credit to Kristin for allowing me to do whatever I see fit.  I adore her for it!  Now, here's precious Baby Alexa!

So, slightly over a year ago, I photographed something that catapulted my growth as a photographer.  Little Carson Richardson passed away at the age of 6, and I photographed the events surrounding the celebration of his life.  The memory of Carson still exists in every second of the Richardson family's life, and he will never be replaced.  His memory is only made stronger by the addition of baby Caroline to the Richardson clan.

Sweet Caroline is one of the funniest, sunniest babies I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  Her bright blue eyes light up a room, and her many, many expressions tell me that she is going to be full of personality!  She's a bit bohemian in nature, as she prefers to be OUT of her cute little outfits and matching headbands, but I'll take her either way.  So will her big brother, Collin.  My favorite images from this set are the ones of the two of them.  I can already see that he is going to be there for her through thick and thin, and he's going to teach her the ways of the world like no one else could even imagine.  Their bond is inspiring, and I hope I get to stick around and photograph them as they grow old together.

Miss Caroline, you are every bit a doll, and I am honored to have taken your picture.  Mwah!

Thank you for sharing these fantastic pictures Kimberly! I love them all, but if I had to pick my favorite, I'd have to agree with Kate-the one's with Collin are my favorite. You have to do something special with the one with their feet-you'll look back and be amazed at how little Caroline's squishy little feet were!
Kate, you did an amazing job. Bless you for capturing these special times for the Richardsons, and keeping Carson right where he should be-in the middle of his FAMILY!
